In my opinion it's the drums. Titman is more traditional sounding and you can hear the garifuna drums more than in music like Punta Rebels, it's also slower. Punta rock like the ones from Punta Rebels uses more drum machines, keyboard, all the xtras and it's much faster. I have always liked both types of punta rock but I notice as I get older I'm leaning toward the more traditional sounding punta rock, I think it may because it's getting so fast that it's losing the original sound. The key heart of punta is the drums there is the primero which is the one that is smaller and gives all the cross rhythms then there is the segundo which is the bass. It provides the tempo and the background. It can be accompanied with maracas (sirisia) and maybe the conch shell and with punta rock they might use turtle shell. Punta rock incorporates all these things but with more synthetics sounds, like the keyboard, bass guitar, drum machine and whatever else they think up.
