I went to the Long Beach Concert over the weekend and it seems like every big reggae event it mostly Belizeans in attendance. That means power in numbers.
Nothing against the Jamaicans but their artist are more successful because the Jamaican people take time and sacrifice to support their own.
Do you think if it was more Belizean Artist on a Reggae show that more Jamaicans would come out because the more Jamaican Artist on a show the more Belizeans come out.
When its more Belizeans performing in an event thats when it seems like Belizean people say they don't have money to waste or thats too expensive or thats too far.

I AGREE WITH YOU BUT, THAT IS BECAUSE PLACES LIKE JAMAICA DON'T PLAY PUNTA REBELS AND AZIATIC ON THEIR RADIO. IF BELIZEAN RADIOS WILL ONLY PLAY BELIZEAN MUSIC I THINK THAT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF WE DONT SHOW APPRECIATION FOR OUR ARTISTS, WHO WILL? OUR ARTISTS GET NO RESPECT IN THEIR LINE OF WORK. SORRY TO SAY BUT IT IS A LONG ROAD TO THE TOP. I SURE WOULDN'T WANT TO BE THEIR WIFE, CAUSE I WILL STARVE RIGHT NOW.

Inquiry Minds Want to know
When was the last time you saw more than 10 Jamaicans at a Belizean Event? If you haven't, is there a boycott going on.
Why don't some Belizeans support there own events? Do they think that spending money somewherelse benefits the economic situation in Belize.
What can Belizean Entertainers do Artist do to attract the support and respect of their own?

I'M NOT BELIZEAN, BUT I THINK THAT ANOTHER CONCERT SHOULD GO DOWN THAT IS STRICTLY, IF NOT MAINLY DANCEHALL. PLEASE DON'T GET ME WRONG, PUNTA IS COOL, BUT A LOT OF MY BELIZEAN BUDDIES COMPLAIN ABOUT SHOWS THAT FEATURE A LINE-UP LIKE HOLLYWOOD PARK THIS LAST WEEKEND. MAYBE IT IS A GOOD IDEA FOR SOMEONE OR SOME GROUP OF PROMOTERS TO ORGANIZE A 2 DAY EVENT (LIKE SEABREEZE FESTIVAL) THAT WILL FOCUS ON ALL BELIZEAN TALENT.
ALSO, MAYBE ALL BELIZEAN ARTIST, ENTERTAINERS, AND PROMOTERS COULD COME TOGETHER TO FIND A WAY TO ORGANIZE A MIND-BLOWING EVENT THAT WILL ATTRACT ALL TYPES OF PEOPLE. FIND A WAY TO RAISE ENOUGH MONEY MONEY OVER AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME TO FUND SUCH AN EVENT. EVERYONE SEEMS TO WANT TO HAVE THE SAME COMPLAINT, SO NOW ITS TIME TO REALLY FOCUS ON A SOLUTION. A BOYCOTT WOULD ONLY HURT BELIZEANS AND OTHERS MAY NOT SEE YOU GUYS AS VALUABLE ASSETS, BUT THEN AGAIN YOU GUYS WERE THE MAIN PEOPLE AT SEABREEZE. BUT I STILL DON'T BELIEVE THAT A BOYCOTT WOULD BE THAT EFFECTIVE FOR MANY REASONS. ANYWAYS, MY SHIFT WAS OVER 5 MINUTES AGO.
TO BE CONTINUED.............
IN THE MEANTIME, HOW ABOUT EVERYONE TAKE A LITTLE TIME TO ACKNOWLEDGE THEIR BELIZEAN TALENT BY NAME AND WHY THEY ARE GOOD. PLEASE INCLUDE ARTISTS THAT HAVEN'T GOTTEN ANY RECOGNITION.
BYE.

I REALLY LIKE CARIBBEAN DYNAMICS AND I FEEL THAT THEY HAVE NICE MUSIC THAT YOU CAN VIBE TOO, IF YOU LIKE THAT TYPE OF REGGAE. THEY EVEN GOT SOME NICE SOCA TUNES LIKE "BITING INSECTS" HAHAHAHA! ANYWAYS, I SEEN THEM ON 5/30/2003 AND THEY SOUNDED REAL NICE AND HAD SMOOTH VOICES.

The date has been set and the claim staked: A.B.A.F. Association for Belizean Artists First, say they will "Teck Back We September" come this rotation of the annual September Celebration. The show, Belizean Sound Fest 2003, which is the second of its kind, will erupt from the Belize City Center on Saturday Sept 13th. Tony Wright, host of Belizean Musicians, Past and Present on KREM FM, who is also a local singer and composer and chief organizer of the show spoke with Amandala. The show is geared to all generations; we will have something for everybody, for the family especially becuase we want parents to be able to bring their kids and have fun together. We want kids to see their Belizean Artist said Wright. Wright explained that the sound fest theme 'Teck Back We September" is in response to the invasion of international artists who usually dominate the country's celebrations. "We have top of the line artists right here in Belize and first class sound systems and we want our Belizeans to see that we can mash up the place too. While other artist are charging anywhere from $40 to $50, we only charging $3 for kids and $10 for adults. We will have the big artist and the big bands. This year's line up will include Santino's Messengers Leroy "Bass" Castillo and the Playaz Band, J Vibes and Jah Rockers Band, Sam Hamilton and the Quadrill Players. For those naturally inclined to Punta Beats Peter "Titiman" Flores will be there and the nations recent sensation "Belizean Movements" will be working the dance floor. Other performers includes Kenny Gladden and the New Creation Band, Sam Carcamo, Jorge Babb, Shirley Bowen Ferguson, Gary "The Hunta Man" Baltarzar, Dan Man, Glenda Price, Fahema and Zoila Clarke. An extra treat will be Carl Watson and the New Dynamics Band out of Chicago. Belizean Sound Fest will be aired live on KREM FM Saturday September 13th. Ann-Marie Williams will emcee the show. The first fest was held hast year and Wright says the A.B.A.F in association with the September Celebrations Committee have also organizes a "jam-session" at the Memorial Park on September 20th before flag raising cermonies. Interested persons can contact Tony Wright at 603-5270

I'm sorry! Its sounds entertaining to have a gossip column, but I can't allow it. It's not fair. We can't compare our Belizean Artists to Hollywood Celebrities. They do not have it like that. They live within the community and mostly every one know them on a personal level. These guys are doing this music thing because its their passion and they want us to share in their talent. We should stay out of their personal life and critique their talent not their personal life. I like your initiative but try something that is more productive and uplifting.
I can deal with a gossip column if it goes something like this: I heard that the group WHOEVER was breaking up due to creative differences with other members. So and so have decided to leave the group because he was promised to have 2 solo on their upcoming CD, but not one of his song was included on the final Mastered copy. . .
Get the picture?
If you can do something like that, why hell, I'll give you a link to your gossip column on the front page.
If not, then please respect my wishes.
Thank you.

HEY LOUIS YOU ARE THE HOMIE, BUT I THINK YOU DID NOT FULLY READ THE COMMENT. i SAID THE PERFORMERS AT THE HOLLYWOOD PARK CASINO, NOT HOLLYWOOD CELEBS. PLEASE REREAD THE COMMENT I MADE. THANK YOU AND NO HARD FEELINGS. TO ELABORATE: ALOT OF MY BELIZEAN FRIENDS COMPLAIN ABOUT HOW THEY DO NOT CARE TO SEE A LINEUP LIKE THOSE AT THE HOLLYWOOD PARK.

I THINK THAT IT IS FAIR THAT IF YOU DELETE THE INITAL POST, YOU SHOULD DELETE THE ONES THAT FOLLOW, BECAUSE I HAVEN'T CHECKED IN FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND THOSE 4 COMMENTS BEFORE LOUIS'S I DON'T GET A CLEAR PICTURE.
